You are really striking a nerve with me. One could volunteer at a nursing home to provide care and comfort to the residents there, and take mileage and other expense deductions for that work. Most of the care that these people need is not medical. But to take a charitable deduction for providing the same support to one's own parents is NOT ALLOWED??? Yeah man, it sucks, but that's the way it looks to me.
