You're right, Mark, they should have kept their mouths shut and let investors buy into this company, so if the SEC finds potential problems with this company, they can shut it down so people can lose their shirts. I am guessing that even Burgess was surprised to read the Wired article about Hayton, judging from the fact that during my conversation with him, he had only met Hayton once. They certainly did me a favor. They weeded out a company with a possible large share of the entire industry and exposed a potential problem. Now people looking to buy into the web advertising industry will know where to look when dealing with these companies, and not label the entire industry as problematic. I'm glad this was discovered sooner rather than later. The industry for web advertising will survive, even if Zulumedia(the company I was hoping would become the MSFT of web advertising) doesn't.
