QWST is not using the Internet for their VOIP calls if they use their own network. The news release says "The Federal Communications Commission is considering levying fees paid by ordinary long distance firms on the new breed of provider offering traditional telephony service over the Internet,..". Would this include QWST if they use their own network and not the Internet? It sounds like this might only affect companies that are using the public Internet network and it might even benefit companies that have their own network to send IP over, as others would need to acquire space on private networks like Qwest's.
Am I just looking for the silver lining on the dark cloud or does this make sense.
Ernie
