Why is FTEL up??? Look at ETEL.. I have benn watching the Internet telephony stocks and have noticed the large increase in volume and price in ETEL and FTEL. I believe that FTEL's recent gains are somewhat the result of daytraders playing ETEL and then moving into FTEL. Both of the stock were originally under $10..ETEL was $6 on Wed. and now it is around $13 5/16 in three short days. ETEL traded over 1 million shares on Fri...and the stock only has a 1.5 Million share float. FTEL was relatively quiet the first hour of trading and then it shot up once ETEL had leveled out and started coming down from its $14 high. This is purely speculation, but I think it makes sense. Daytraders want to get into cheap, fast moving stocks..and FTEL is one of the cheapest in the Internet Telephone industry. VocalTec also started moving after 1 p.m. on Friday..the stock went from a day low of $18 to $20. Another thing to look at is the fact that YHOO and AMZN have had large run ups in the last few weeks and brokerage houses are seeing these stocks hit their price targets and downgrading...thus, people are looking for new areas to put their money. I definitely think the Internet telephone stocks could be very hot over the next couple of weeks...or at least very volatile!! The wild card is the FCC trying to impose regulations.. Alan
