RE: NOVATEC: I was out all day yesterday from 2:00 pm to 2:00 am and I have to leave again today. However, I would like to say that I have not reviewed the SNRS web site but will attempt to when time permits. It sounds to me that SNRS is a very specific niche machine (i.e., near vision problem correction utilizing no-touch hyperopia and correcting presbyopia-I assume utilizing corneal rings) correct me if Im wrong. If that is the case, I understand everyone's concern about Novatec's method of hyperopia correction (no-touch vs. touch). To be honest, I do not know the answer. I do know someone that may or may not give me the answer and I'll contact him sometime early in the week. However, if someone else finds out first, please post. If it turns out that the Light-Blade 2 does not offer the no-touch approach to hyperopia correction, that's ok , because it's so versatile in so many other ways (not niche specific). In addition, and again correct be if Im wrong, I believe it would be an easier progression for the Light-Blade 2 to upgrade to no-touch hyperopia correction than it would be for the Sunrise laser to progress to a fully versatile machine allowing for all forms of laser vision correction. Note: that's based upon the premise that it is a niche specific machine. Regardless, the reason for my post again was only to make you aware of the new kid on the block.
Also, it is my understanding that Novatec will be represented at the ASCRS convention. Hell, they're located just a few miles from it. If anyone attends, let us know what they saw and their opinions.
Additionally, this comment is directed towards Rockdoc 1950 on Yahoo: I do not believe it has been determined if we indeed are discussing apples and oranges and your comment may be premature, thus, I feel my posting was justified...Pappy |
