They probably shouldn't. Companies may find it cheaper (or just plain necessary) to gut and replace their old infrastructure when they run into problems.
I think IBM may be the mother of all y2K companies....and LMT because we own the old IBM Federal Systems. If we get into a y2k meltdown, the rest of the Dow may erode away and leave IBM standing like the core of an extinct volcano.
