I did a lot of similar things. One of the problems with being an autodidact or a kid who's an avid reader without anyone to discuss things with, is that you can know and understand a word very well but mispronounce it just the same. The only one which comes to mind is "subtle" which I recall mispronouncing and thereby amusing some other people.

I child of an acquaintance of mine named her dog BEE-thaw-ven, and it took several days for her mother to realize that the dog had been named after the famous composer.
