Thanks for your response on the Cyrix 6x86. Very interesting!

If Cyrix is pricing their chips at little or no profit in an effort to look impressive when compared with Intel's offerings, then I believe this is a losing strategy for them. Since CPU generations are progressing rapidly, anybody who wants to compete long term must make enough profit to stay in the R&D game.

Cyrix's offerings may look OK for now, but they can't take the R&D expenditure pain indefinitely without making any profits.
