CL,

You can up the virtual memory easily enough (just in case
you don't know), provided you have the disk space. Right
click my computer, choose properties, click the performance
tab, click the change button under virtual memory, then set
it to what you want.

It will in fact keep some greedy apps from crashing due to
low memory. Metastock is one of these, I hear (I have
Metastock but just haven't had time to install it and get
to learn it yet -- still doing background reading).

If you know all this, I apologize. I must have mistaken
you for somebody else<g>.

BTW, since I put separate memory space by default, I haven't
caught the WOW VDM task active unless I actually have a
16-bit app running. Maybe I also set the hang-around time
to zero or low or something -- don't remember.

Are you running in a separate memory space? It VASTLY reduced
my GP faults. Put the registry value

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WOW\DefaultSeparateVDM

to "Yes" if you haven't already done that.
