greeting all - desperate man <namely me> requires desperate measure <vbg>. As most of you know I do not believe in takeover bets, here or elsewhere. I am reversing my opinion here. I think BAY is at least a good candidate for INTC, especially if Messr House is promised with the role of having all the INTC's (plus BAY, of course) networking segment of the business. That should also give him some indirect influence in XIRC and MRVC.

I come to this conclusion based on one article I read. Dham, the chief architect of Pentium and K6, has set up shop in Mt View. His VC back company is called Silicon Spice and it is doing silicon networking [whatever that means.] The marriage of semi and networking is the next wave of growth. To do that, it requires cross sector consolidation. INTC has already had it known that its investment in networking is not incidental any more [the old explanation is INTC wanted to use networking to sell more boxes.] Not anymore b/c the people who control the flow of information [to shamelessly use BAY catch phrase] control its distiny.

Another reason is Messr Barrett needs Messr House. Barrett is a great operational guy, but House knows marketing.

So [pinching myself] how is my rambling <VBG>
