Excellent post Greg. For us non-surgical types, having the technology explained in plain english makes the foundation for analysis much easier. Now, here's an article from USA today that talks about the more common procedures, PRK and LASIK:

search.usatoday.com

Being a newcomer here, I would like to kindly ask for your assistance(and anyone else who would care to help out) regarding the following basic questions (I'm sorry if the following questions have already been answered; if so, please direct me to the post number that does):

1. What category does Novatec fall under, PRK, LASIK, or LTK?
2. What specifically is Novatec supposed to treat? Hyperopia (a.k.a. farsightedness)? Is that SNRS's core market?
3. What is SNRS's core market?
4. What is Novatec's core market?
5. Is/Can the LTK procedure (be) patented?
6. What steps are necessary before full FDA approval is granted to SNRS? What stage is SNRS in the approval process?
7. What stage is Novatec?

Given the procedures involved, it seems like a no-brainer that LTK is far superior to PRK and LASIK. The risk (and imagined pain) involved with surgeon-dependent procedures is currently (IMO) perceived to be high. Nobody wants their eyes to be permanently damaged, especially if human error can be removed. With a machine-based procedure, I would imagine that the image of precision and accuracy granted computers will also be transferred to the LTK procedure, which could very well explain the easier decision process for such procedures.

Any help regarding the above questions would be extremely appreciated.

Regards,

Rainier Trinidad
