VLAD Here is a link to a pharmacy website that has a lot of experience with all of the ED meds. Call them up. They are very experienced with real-world success rates.

thepillbox.com

Here is an excerpt from one of their pages:

"Our Position on Viagra.
We are cautiously optimistic. It would seem Viagra has a
strong future. However, it is important to remember that
there are still several proven ways of treating male
impotence. The most popular current treatment continues
to be Penile Injection Therapy. It has proven to be both
inexpensive and popular. Our Rx Compounding
pharmacists are here to help you and your doctor or
urologist formulate the right compound for your specific
needs. "

Another page from their site:
"Comparison of therapies:

1. The V.E.D. (Vacuum Erection Device)
The V.E.D. is an alternative that
through the use of a vacuum tube
and different sizes of rubber
bands, keeps an erection for a
limited amount of time. It works
fairly well, but is cumbersome and
certainly takes the spontaneity out
of a sexual encounter.

V.E.D. prices range from
$395 to $595

2. The Urethral Insert
The most recent entry into this market, the urethral insert is a
long skinny suppository that is inserted into the penis. It
contains prostaglandin, which when absorbed into the tissue
causes an erection. The two drawbacks are that you have to
insert this up the penis (catheterization), and it is rather
expensive. The process costs about $25 to $30 depending on
the strength of the dose. This is the cost per one use.
3. Penile Injection Therapy
The most widely used method is penile injection therapy.
Its main drawback is the fact that you have to inject the medication directly into the side of the penis.

The vast majority of men have no problems and do not mind
the minor discomfort of the injection. However, for men
sensitive to needles, there are topical solutions that can be
applied just prior to injection to briefly anethetize the area of
injection.

The main attraction of penile injection therapy is its reliability
and the fact that the duration of your erection is easily
regulated by the dose given. You can have your satisfaction
and your partner can take as long as they need for theirs. Your
penis stays erect even after ejaculation. No more nights of
disappointing sex. Your partner will appreciate you even more.

There are several different drug combinations that are widely
used throughout the profession. Ask your physician about
them, or call us to consult with one of our compounding
pharmacists. We're here to help you and your physician
formulate positive therapeutic results. As with all medications,
there are limitations and possible side effects, but by far, the
vast majority of men have no problems. "

They fill prescriptions for MUSE, Caverject, PPP (Papaverine, Phetolamine, PGE1), vacuum pumps, and are currently taking orders for Viagra. Give them a call and find out what really works according to their customers.

I am in no way "anti-MUSE". I am "pro-knowledge". What really works?
What are the real end-users going to gravitate to?

Also, according to the guys on alt.support.impotence, the prostaglandin effect (hot dick) with Caverject is nowhere near as intense as with MUSE, perhaps due to scratching of the urethra. With the PPP mix, there is no "hot dick" effect.

Perhaps if MUSE were re-formulated to avoid pain, and produced rock hard erections as well as the injectables, it would be the best product for moderate to severe ED. In it's present formulation, it may be in a distant second place.

If I were an ED patient, I would want to try the meds in this order:
1. Viagra
2. Muse
3. Injectables

Many who have tried MUSE and injectables have found the greatest success with the injectables. They say they will try Viagra at the earliest opportunity. If Viagra doesn't work they will go back to the injectables.

Those who are presently happy with MUSE will try Viagra. If Viagra works they will abandon MUSE. If Viagra doesn't work, they will go back to MUSE.

IMHO, MUSE will lose a lot of customers to both Viagra and the injectables.

p.s. cost of PPP $1.25 - $3.75 per dose.
