Rick,
Actually partnering memantine at this time is not a good idea for NTII.
They are beginning their Phase II trial for AIDS dementia and neuropathic
pain and it is being paid for by the NIH. So NTII doesn't need the money to
proceed with the trials. They don't have much to gain from partnering at
this time. However, if they wait until positive Phase II results are in,
they are in the drivers seat to negotiate a very favorable deal. As a
matter of fact, I would deem it a blunder to partner memantine now, unless
someone made an outragious offer.

One thing to keep in mind is that the FDA's fast track approval for AIDS
drugs allows for the filing of an NDA and market approval based upon a Phase
II trial. Hence, NTII could conceivably file an NDA for memantine in less
than a year from now and be approved for market in a year and a half. This
can all be accomplished without a partner, financed by Uncle!

This would be an amazing coup. NTII was very careful in designing the Phase
II trial. They worked closely with the NIH and the FDA to ensure that it
was acceptable to everyone. This tells me that filing an NDA based upon
the Phase II data is exactly what NTII has in mind.

I reiterate my offer to send an extensive report on NTII to anyone who
sends me their email address.
