Shalom:
There are none so blind as those who will not see. It is interesting how those who cry "Tolerance! Tolerance!" cannot themselves seem to tolerate the Word of God nor God's people. They seem to think that we think we are in some kind of exclusive club, but we know better. Jesus died for all people and all people are welcomed into the Kingdom of God, but there is a catch with which so many (unfortunately) can't deal. That catch is that there must first be repentance, or a recognition of their sinful state and a sincere heart that seeks forgiveness from God through the Lord Jesus. If they do not recognize that they are sinful people then they will not repent. Maybe some will have an experience similar to Saul who later became Paul. Saul's sole agenda was to rid this world of Christians and he had received a writ, a legal document allowing him to arrest and persecute Christians. On his way, however, he had a life changing experience, an encounter with our Lord:
"Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synogogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."
Acts 9:1-6.
Remember, Shalom, as the words above indicate, when they persecute Christians they are really persecuting the Lord Himself.
During this Easter season, may the Lord's light convict and lead many to repentance and an acceptance of Jesus as Lord.
In Christ, Tom |
