Apple's sub $1000 computer plans: how will they be affected by National Semiconductor's release of a low cost highly integrated chip? This was reported today in the Wall Street Journal (and, I suppose, elsewhere). The WSJ suggests this chip could drive low end computer prices below $400. I have no idea how valid this latter claim is, but the questions I have is are as follows:Does this represent a chip Apple can't use, ie. competition? Can Apple make use of this chip? I would love to hear from the technically astute. Thanks all Dan
