1.3 Million Pixel Digital Still Camera Redefines Market Resolution/ Price Point

MILPITAS, Calif., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- LSI Logic Corporation
(NYSE: LSI - news), The System-on-a-Chip Company, today announced
that its digital still camera on a chip solution, the ''DCAM-101,''
has been adopted in the new and recently announced CASIO ''QV-5000SX''
Digital Camera. CASIO, a leader in the digital still camera market,
will launch sales of the new camera in Japan on April 28.

''We selected the DCAM-101 based upon LSI Logic's industry leading
system-on-a-chip technology. The LSI solution was a perfect fit for
the 1.3 million pixel, high speed performance target we set for the
QV-5000SX. We expect the near film-like resolution of the QV-5000SX
to stimulate the overall digital still camera market growth,'' said
Susumu Takashima, Deputy General Manager, QV Digital Camera Division,
CASIO Computer Co., Ltd.

CASIO worked closely with LSI Logic to customize the DCAM-101 firmware
in order to satisfy the aggressive performance, resolution, and
feature set targets for the QV-5000SX. LSI's MiniRISC MIPS
microprocessor, the industry's highest volume embedded processor, is
used in the chip to implement the chip's advanced capabilities.

The DCAM-101 chip integrates all of the features necessary in a
state-of-the-art digital still camera into a single package, achieving
extremely low power dissipation and greatly reducing overall system
cost.

''We are delighted that CASIO has chosen our digital camera
system-on-a- chip solution. They have been a real pioneer in the
digital still camera market, and have developed a superb product,''
said Elias Antoun, executive vice president, Consumer Products of LSI
Logic Corporation, and Chairman of LSI Logic K.K. in Japan.
