(NASDAQ:CUBE - news) announced today that its AViA Settop Decoder is one of the first highly integrated audio/video settop solutions to be certified as fully compliant with Dolby Digital (AC-3).
C-Cube's AViA settop solutions and production-ready designs are being deployed worldwide, enabling digital video service providers to offer advanced entertainment capabilities to consumers. Today's announcement demonstrates C-Cube's feature-rich offering for enhanced settop capability and furthers C-Cube's competitive position in this growing market.
Dolby Digital enables content providers to enhance the entertainment value of their programming to subscribers by delivering full surround-sound functionality, increasing the opportunity for incremental revenues on premium movies and digital audio services. Dolby Digital was designed to use lower data rates and maximize audio quality. The specification provides ''5.1'' discrete channels of audio, including five full frequency channels; Left, Center, Right, Left Surround, Right Surround; and a Low Frequency Effects channel.
