What's wrong with X-windows (terminals or otherwise) for clients. Why does it have to be Java? You cannot execute applications software on a terminal, X Window or otherwise. That's a critical observation with massive ramifications in terms of software power and software design. It has to be Java because it offers the most compelling features of any other system out there: technically, politically, practically.
