To Mr. Gintel and all others SI Checkfree Lovers

Checkfree/MSFDC comparision.

MSFDC is in the early stage of development. They have three banks in beta testing and is discussing with others, compared to about 300 for CKFR. Transaction volume is negligible compared to CKFR's current 7 million transactions per month. MSFDC has 9 billers while CKFR has 22 billers and 1000 established electronic merchant links.

MSFDC is focused on signing up high volume billers and establishing electronic links to both send bills and receive payments, known as round trip transaction. Round trip transactions are clearly the low cost method given the customer care and processing costs are materially lower than for paper based dilivery. While MSFDC would like to focus on these low cost transactions as CKFR does, it cannot avoid paper based delivery and at the same time satisfy the desire of the banks for a pay-anyone-anyhow remittance model.

CKFR clearly has an edge as far as banks are concerned. Even MSFDC admits that it will take long time to convince banks to use two processing vendors, and to overcome the fear about the intentions of Microsoft.

Hence MSFDC is viewed as only a psychological threat for now. In short term CKFR has to target subscriber growth in order to achieve economies of scale in their core business of home banking and not investment services which is a minor portion of their revenues.
The divstiture of last wednesday is viewed as positive by the market.
We will have to wait and see how the price behaves before the earnings announcements (by the way, is it Apr 22 or is it Apr 28 ? any info), in my view the price should hold up above 25 and rise from their as we come closer to earnings and beat the estimates.

thanks.
