Boston Communications Group Announces C2C Prepaid Wireless Growth April 6, 1998 7:30 AM EDT

WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 6, 1998--Boston Communications Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:BCGI) today announced that net subscribers on its C2C prepaid service increased by 33,000 for the month of March and 87,000 for the first quarter, bringing its domestic subscriber base to 378,000.

"While these results would represent a compounded annual growth rate of 200% in our subscriber base, they nonetheless reflect that some of our largest carriers had not yet aggressively marketed their wireless prepaid services," commented E.Y Snowden, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boston Communications Group, Inc. Kevin Thigpen, Vice President and General Manager of the Prepaid Division added, "Some of these larger carriers have launched new market initiatives which should begin to have a positive effect on our subscriber growth rate in the second quarter. In the international market, prepaid wireless demand remains strong as evidenced by our agreement, also announced today, with BellSouth International Wireless Services for the sale of our prepaid systems throughout South America."

Boston Communications Group, Inc. develops, markets, and provides high quality, innovative call processing services, prepaid wireless services, teleservices, prepaid and voice systems to wireless telephone carriers. The Company s services and systems are designed to enable wireless telephone carriers to focus internal resources on their core business activities, while increasing revenues, improving service quality and reducing costs.
