Mentor Graphics Announces Industry's First Physical Verification Solution For NT
Leader In Deep Submicron Verification,
Calibre Offers True Platform Independence
WILSONVILLE, Ore., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT), the leader in physical verification and extraction for deep submicron ICs, today announced availability of Calibre(R) DRC for the Windows NT(R) operating environment. With Calibre for NT, Mentor Graphics enables system-on-chip (SOC) verification teams to use the industry's fastest design rule checking solution seamlessly across UNIX and PC platforms.
Calibre for NT further strengthens the Mentor Graphics line-up of NT-based tools. The company pioneered the conversion of UNIX-based tools to the Windows environment starting in 1996 with Personal Architect(TM) and will port the majority of its tools to NT by year-end. Other available NT-based solutions include its best-selling design entry tool Renoir(TM) and the company's world-class suite of DFT tools.
"As a provider of embedded DRAM and IP cores for systems and ASIC companies, it is important for us to offer a full range of design environments," said Perry Constantine, CEO at Silicon Access. "Calibre for NT meets the pressing need for high performance Windows-based tools that can handle 0.25-micron designs with millions of transistors. With Calibre, we can race through physical verification with no trade-offs in accuracy or methodology."
"Calibre is the tool of choice for major global customers involved in deep submicron IC design, including SGS-Thomson, Samsung and Toshiba," said Walden C. Rhines, chief executive officer, Mentor Graphics Corporation. "Our drive to keep Mentor Graphics the technology leader in deep submicron verification keeps Calibre in the forefront as the only platform-independent tool in this market. Our customers with multi-platform engineering networks can harness the power and speed of this industry-standard tool to speed system-chips to market."
Calibre's performance on Intel Pentium II(R) and Pentium Pro(R) processors is unrivaled. UNIX and NT versions of the tool offer exactly the same capabilities for full-chip design rule checking.
Mentor Graphics' Calibre product family offers unique capabilities critical to the long-term success of IC designers faced with complex SOC design. Engineered specifically to address the challenges of deep submicron design, Calibre is the only solution incorporating technology that accurately models the effects of hierarchical design reuse, resulting in consistently faster verification. The tool is methodology-independent, providing flexibility for the future through automatic accommodation of new design approaches.
