I've been reading some predictions about the future of the internet. This particular prognosticator is predicting the demise of the on-line industry next year some time. He claims that as the IXC's and LECs are forced to follow AT&T's lead into providing flat rate customer access on-line services. On-line services firms will find themselves redundant and unable to compete with the bigger pockets which can afford to subsidize rates for consumers (which actually lose money) in the larger pursuit of business accounts.
