"I would note, however, that the population of America is overwhelmingly Christian. So I would have to assume that most of his guests are Christians, as well."
What on earth is wrong with that, Dwight?
Why don't you ask Janice. She seems, even from Italy, to have a good understanding of how US TV shows are run.
Since you TOTALLY missed my point about the Jerry Springer show, I will clarify for you: The point is not that this kind of stuff is out there, but that the VIEWERS of TV are evidently just gobbling this stuff up, by making it the most watched TV show. Obviously the guests are hand-picked for their eagerness to indulge in base, brutal behavior. The disturbing part is that people enjoy watching it.
The other thing that I found amazing in your response was that you would assume that just because Christianity is the dominant religion, it would follow that the majority of the population in the US is Christian. Why would you make such an assumption? Are you under the illusion that everyone has chosen a religion, and Christianity has the most members? Come on. Nobody really knows how many Christians there are, and saying you are a Christian in response to a survey question may or may not be true. Now do you see how ridiculous your assumption is that the guests on Jerry Springer's TV must be Christian, since Christianity is the dominant religion? That's like saying that the majority of murderers in US prisons must be Christian, since Christianity is the dominant religion in the US. |
