Druss, MOT just announced earnings. Of course it had warned of a poor Q1 last month. What's new tonight is the negative outlook for the next couple of quarters. MOT traded down 4 in afterhours. Well, perhaps reality is beginning to set in.

Regards,

Tom

Excerpt from MOT earnings release:

Christopher Galvin, chief executive officer, said, ''The first- quarter results were greatly affected by
the worldwide impact of Asian deflationary currency-influenced price competition, lower Asian
consumer confidence than a year ago and unfavorable shifts in product mix. These conditions may
continue for several more quarters. Second-quarter sales are expected to be below those of a year
ago. Second quarter earnings are expected to be well below current investment community
expectations and could be equal to or less than 1998 first-quarter earnings, excluding special items.''
