A Little Checklist Thingy...

1. Yahoo!'s gonna make their numbers.

2. SEEK's got something up their sleeve to be pulled out
this week to set the stage for next week's earnings announcement.
So, what is the thing up their sleeve? Is it some sort NSCP
resolution? Or a complete end-around obviating the necessity for
any further reliance on NSCP (however attenuated that "reliance"
has become)? Or is it just some cool new deal? How would I know?
I am baldly guessing. If I weren't guessing, I'd be cheating.
I don't cheat. Unless I can. And I can't. There.

3. <<OT>> Would-be gurus, never phrase stuff like I just did. You will be
laughed at. Or, more kindly, laughed with.

4. Somebody on the Yahoo! board just noticed the Atlanta Internet
Bank button in the upper right hand corner of the SEEK site. Nice
little advertising buy... in a very premium spot.

5.<<OT>> Major telecom provider. Those three words must now be woven
into every subsequent post by would-be gurus. I think it is some
kind of mantra, that if repeated will give one a warm feeling all
over. Unlike, say, "cilantro chutney," which, by the way, I have
an open jar of in front of me... very close to a box of Triscuits.

6. <<OT>> Putting things into list form, makes the poster appear to
be authoritative and short on time, like he or she has something
better to do.

7. <<OT>> XCIT swapped some stock for a classified advertising
content provider. Further, XCIT's subsidiary MatchLogic announced
a new opt-in e-mail service to help direct marketers make the
most of their e-mail marketing efforts. This ain't spam. Or
if it is, it's spam you ask for by opting in. XCIT is, IMHO,
playing the direct marketing game--the new paradigm for the Web--
to the hilt. SEEK could take SOME lessons here.

8. SEEK's still sitting on that money from the SPO. Hmmmm...

9. Got an e-mail response from SEEK about our agency choosing
DCLK for a client's campaign. One classic sentence, straight
from Auto-Respond Hell: "Thank you for the information about
your particular situation." :-) Sometimes, when you DON'T
know, you DON'T know.

Best Regards To All Thoughtful SEEKers,

c m
