(suv's are HUGE out here in the rural west....... noticed though that Lexus and M Benz along with Lincoln and Olds have suv models also --- these folks don't want their upscale butts thumped! Also like the fact that they are claiming the technology will work in a wide range of vehicles including light trucks, big trucks, busses, panes and trains. Cool.)

AimRite Holdings Achieves Breakthroughs Following Testing with General Motors
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1998--Based on joint testing
with the General Motors Truck Engineering Group, AimRite Holdings Corp.'s (AimRite) (NASDAQ/BB:AIMH - news) engineering group has perfected th application of its Computer Optimized Adaptive Suspension Technology (COAST) for the four wheel drive Chevrolet/GMC Suburban Sport Utility Vehicle.
AimRite announced that the knowledge gained from testing has resulted in significant breakthroughs in the size, cost and performance of the COAST suspension system. These advancements resulted from the rigorous testing of a COAST-equipped Suburban at the General Motors Desert Proving Grounds in Mesa, Ariz. The GM proving grounds are the most extensive and rugged testing facility in the United States.
The COAST suspension system dramatically improves vehicle stability, ride comfort and performance for virtually all automotive applications, stated Dr. Ken Coleman, president of AimRite. He further related that this result is achieved by a computer that can control the suspension system on passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, light duty trucks and vans, RVs and heavy duty trucks and buses. AimRite holds manufacturing and worldwide marketing and sales rights to the COAST system.
The following breakthroughs will allow COAST to establish new standards in the suspension industry: 1) The size of the suspension unit has been reduced by almost fifty (50) percent, allowing it to fit on almost any vehicle and significantly reducing its cost, 2) The performance of the existing software has been improved dramatically using extensive computer simulations and modeling, and 3) The computer now adjusts the suspension 400 times per second, twice as fast as before.
As a result of these breakthroughs, AimRite believes that the market share for the COAST technology can be substantially increased. the details of the improvements cannot be disclosed until appropriate patent protection has been secured. These improvements will be covered in new patent applications that will join existing foreign and domestic patents already covering the COAST technology. AimRite's patent law firm, Christie, Parker and Hale LLP is one of the country's premier intellectual property law firms.
AimRite will introduce the first COAST production system for the automobile after-market for sale and distribution later this year. In addition to the General Motors Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon, and the Ford Expedition and Explorer, the COAST system will be applied to other high-demand sports utility vehicles. All major automakers have specialized production vehicles that could feature COAST.
Besides the enormous automotive original equipment manufacturer and after-market industries, COAST technology is applicable to many other industrial and commercial markets including the railroad and aviation industries, industrial shock and vibration isolators, exercise equipment, seat dampers and vehicle bumper crash absorbers.
