Colby: I'm no expert in VVUS and in fact follow this thread and others as a learning experience. The stock market never ceases to amaze me and I have found stocks that have risen for the wrong reason, etc.
First, I'll repeat what a broker said to me the other night when I asked him about another stock that has been dead in the water. He replied that in his opinion that stock is dead money and "you cannot afford to be sitting on dead money in a market like this." Makes sense as I view the past 5 years as a once in a lifetime opportunity.
I have never owned VVUS but been very tempted to jump in from time to time. And as a rule, I never short stocks. I can't stand the time frames associated with buying puts, options, ect. Just my way of doing things....certainly doesn't make it right.
As for the prospects for VVUS, my concern would be that Pfizer's Viagra will, unless something drastic happens, garner the lion's shares of the market. Yes Muse probably won't go away but I think Viagra will be the first choice for the masses. And for whatever reason, class actions lawsuits, which go with the territory, scare me.
You are correct about cheerleading. There always seems to be an 'in your face" attitude from those who make the right decision. And when the worm turns, so do the cheerleaders. I enjoy the banter but we all have to remember that in a distant way, we are all in this together. It's fun to compete and it's hard not to take things personally, especially when our hard earned money is at stake.
Anyway, I've grown fond of this group.
