To all: Another blurb I found in PCWeek this a.m.
zdnet.com
Titled: Coast-to-Coast Laptops subtitled: Micron's new GoBook to offer up to 11 hours of battery life.
"New PC to feature a 2.1 lbs lithium-ion prismatic base that gives users up to 11 hours of operation. The battery, instead of a brick you plug into, is a base plate that you fit the notebook on.
The article goes on to discuss the obvious need for more battery life, and the just as obvious down-side of more weight. blah, blah, blah.
The interesting part is a single sentence that says: "The Nampa, Idaho, company will venture into new battery territory in the third quarter when it introduces a lithium-ion polymer battery for the GoBook's drive bay, sources said."
Seems to indicate that they have designed this laptop to accept the LP pack already. Let's hope its from VLNC. Any insights on this? Micron certainly seems to move a decent number of laptops, so I think they would need some decent volume.
I've been lurking on this thread now for a year or so and have thoroughly enjoyed the activity. Had to take advantage of the free month offer, and will probably ante up once that runs out. Also have enjoyed having the stock in my buy range for a while, but like everyone else here am looking forward to the day when this thing is just way too expensive to consider adding to my position :-) Keep the posts coming, from all points of view.
