Tim, there is insurance coverage for the CT Scan, although its spotty. For example, Blue Cross of CA covers the procedure if you have a Doctor's referral for the scan. If you self refer, no coverage. I would think that most Doctor's would refer patients for the scan, However, there are many Doctors who still don't believe in the procedure as they "don't know what to do with the calcium score". This is a bunch of BS. For example, I had the scan, received a poor score, saw a Doctor at UCLA for followup studies and received a prescribed course of treatment.
