SEA CHANGES IN TECH

I do believe Intel will weather the storm well and be a very good long term investment. Also, I am not surprised Compaq, Motorola, and others are having problems. Compaq is now perceived as a low quality box maker since they have gone away from Intel chips and are scraping the bottom of the quality barrel. Its not just the chips, their low end systems are truly limited and offer low value relative to what is available for a little more money. Dell, on the other hand, will continue to steal market share with its superior systems and business model. Dell would never buy slow growing DEC. Unfortunately for the competition, Dell will eat their lunch in the server and workstation markets when the Merced chip becomes prevalent. Also, MOT hasn't made a good move in three years. They have to contend with Lucent and Ericsson, both of which are superior. Intel will come out stronger than ever as more powerful systems are required to converge all data in a fully wired/wireless and integrated communications world.
