<<Two points to remember though.....WILL they choose to actually make an entrance (only if the potential mkt is HUGE, IMO). Also, Sony, like everyone else, is capable of laying an egg with a product. By the way, how many reports have you read about working models of HiFD in the hands of ANYONE?>>

Michael, thanks for the response. I sure hope the market for portable drives is huge...unless its huge, I would have to wonder why IOM entered the market. Also, I'm sure Sony did their market research before developing the HiFD. Yes, Sony can lay an egg, but they also have the resources to put the egg "back together". (With the exception of the Beta VCR.)

Regarding HiFD models in the hands of ANYONE. Its very feasible that OEM's are now evaluating the drive and nothing has been released to the press. Just because there are no announcements, it doesn't mean that the marketing of the drive, and the evaluation of the drive by potential customers, isn't going on as we exchange these postings.

<<Re. cash flow: no question; a highly desirable circumstance. >>

I am assuming that you meant "undesirable" and not "desirable". The fact that IOM missed the last quarter by a few pennies is no longer the issue. They have now preannounced a loss for the current quarter and negative cash flow. KE has left the company. Adv. campaign, so far, has not generated sales, and the beat goes on.

As I said before, why not look for an investment where one can make some money in a reasonable period of time? (Today is a bummer...DOW down 123, Nasdaq down 39, and S&P down 17!!! Techs taking the lead in this dive...blamed on Mot.)
