Jack,

Cruising around SI, I've found that there is a very strong
inverse correlation between (1) frequency of posts on a
stock, and (2) how much money has been made, and is yet
to me made, by the posters.

It happened with APM. AlienTech was there. Thousands
of posts a month. With many lured into the stock because
of the high short interest. Last winter everyone there got
slaughtered.

This forum on VVUS has deteriorated quite a bit since i joined
it mid-December (am really *not* a long-term poster, after all,
that honor should go to those who got in the stock at 20 or 30,
or higher).

There is really very little science discussed here of late,
and much more of the senseless rah-rah cheerleading going on.

It would be unfortunate to see newcomers to VVUS get suckered
in to buying on the rallies, due to posts here using technical
analysis to support their opinion that VVUS is ready to fill
the gap and rocket up to 20. There were a few posts like that
recently, and i just wanted to interject a note of caution
amidst the drum-beating. (The long-timers may remember that
i had posts like that last winter, but i was wrong in those
posts.)

However, I agree that there can be great value in sharing
painful emotions when one has faced a loss of any kind,
financial or otherwise.

This forum, therefore, may serve as a strong comfort to those
with losses, because it offers a place where they can come
together and exchange justifications for their past decisions.

Think of it as a kind of support group.

Cheers,

David
