Here is one for anyone to ponder. This is something I know to be absolutely true, but for obvious reasons I am not naming names here, not the least of which is because I don't wish to intervene in another person's life in an irresponsible way.
I present it merely as something in which there is a deep moral and spiritual lesson, I believe....
There is a famous church official who is well known as one who speaks out vociferously against homosexuals, bisexuals, and transsexuals. He does this on general principle, and in particular in the context of any issue involving them in a public way, i.e, rights legislation, gatherings and participation in public, cultural events....
Most of his prepared speeches on this, and other important matters, are written by another church person who is an aide and speech writer. This person also functions in another, sort of independent position which also has a fair amount of status. He is actually stationed at another all together different location.
What I find interesting is that this aide is a closeted homosexual who arranges his personal life in ways that are desperate, secretive, guilt-ridden and filled with anxiety and shame. Here is a man constantly balancing on the edge. When he is not performing his work in either of his two main functions, he is leading a most frustrating and painful life pursuing an experience that cannot be found in the darkness in any way that is other than temporary and ultimately disappointing. I kid you not, he can have a "love" experience one day, and the next he is writing a speech against himself and his brothers that will be delivered from a very powerful platform.
I know this person, and my heart goes out to him, and yet I know the part he plays in the deliberate damage of others in the name of God and religion. His is truly a moral and spiritual dilemma. Hell is not a place apart from our own consciousness, and he bears this out.
