I had some wine from Morocco (Morocco is not mentioned in Parker, unfortunately) at lunch today in a moroccan restaurant (Oum El Banine is the name, 16 rue Dufrenoy, Paris 16Šme) (yes, I know, french do drink wine at lunch and don't fall asleep afterwards). I always wonder how wine makers from North-Africa master so well the incredible sun they get, without running into too heavy alcohol... Probably because there was a heavy french influence some time ago there.

I think that this bottle was named Beni M'Tir, and was aged in oak barrels, which gave it some finesse without the too plain vanilla (oak juice, I call it) that sometimes cover everything in the wine.

Some Napa/Sonoma/Russian Valley wineries should tour north-africa, to get some cross-cultural references...
