Bob, Re: "Hellooo? Tony, you said IBM's yields were comparable to Intel's and IBM makes chips for Cyrix
implying highly reliable processors."

By IBM getting excellent yields, I meant for their mainframe chips. I have no idea what yields IBM gets when making chips for Cyrix. Some of the Cyrix chips have been well publicized as having noise and heat problems. I just read it again today or yesterday, think someone URL'd it here. Now, with these problems, it might not matter who builds the chip, Cyrix or IBM, regarding its reliability.

I posted in here a couple of months ago that our boxmaker, when asked to build Cyrix based PC's for some other customer, said some such PC's could not be brought up. About AMD, he said all K6's were essentially going to a couple of customers, and he couldn't guarantee he could always get them. We said "we'll stay with Intel and thanks for the info."
