 NEW YORK, April 7 (Reuters) - Blockbuster Video had its same-store rental revenues rise by 9.3 percent in the first quarter, according to the company that owns the video rental chain store. Viacom Inc. said in a statement released Tuesday that Blockbuster disclosed the figure during a presentation to securities analysts in Dallas, Texas. Viacom Spokeswoman Susan Duffy said the subsidiary did not release any other figures. On February 26, the company's chief executive said Blockbuster should have a "significant impact" with a boost in cash flow in the second half of the year. The rental chain had revenues rise seven percent to $1.02 billion in the fourth quarter.

 Viacom set to launch MTV in Russia
 LOS ANGELES, April 6 (Reuters) - MTV Networks, a unit of Viacom Inc. [VIA] , said it reached a licensing agreement with Biz Enterprises in Russia to launch a 24-hour musical television network in that country. The Moscow-based MTV will begin in the fourth quarter of 1998, the company said. Bill Roedy, president of MTV Networks International, told Reuters the company had built a relationship with Russia over the past nine years and had distributed some programming over other channels. The new network will reach more than 10 million households, he said in a telephone interview from a television conference in Cannes, France, where the deal was announced.
