I have come to think that the FDA has decided to approve this drug, although the chances that I am wrong are greater than me being right. My reasons for thinking that are this: Everything was booked for the April 9 meeting--the ballrooms in Bethesda, everything. Now, the FDA has come under considerable pressure to pass this drug. Could they reject this drug now having cancelled a public meeting that would have allowed some patients and their families a forum to at the very least hear the case being made? The most logical thing to do for the FDA if they were leaning against approval would have been to let the advisory panel meeting take place, and then say "Look, nobody thinks this works." The unusual nature of cancelling a meeting like that--I have to wonder if it isn't a prelude to approval. There is a lot of pressure on these people--I wonder if they are yielding. Good luck
