NBC has become the third major broadcaster to announce its plans to offer digital television transmission. The Peacock network said today at the National Association of Broadcasters convention that it would initially offer the progressive scanning format, slowly moving to the higher-resolution interlaced signal for its 13 owned stations and various affiliates.

...While television sets will be built for viewing a variety of formats, some observers fear that a mix of progressive and interlaced formats could create huge problems.
