The 15 MM K6s will prolong Socket 7 for the $999 - $1499 sweet spot PC this year. The K6-3D to be shipped 2Q98 will still use Socket 7. I posted AMD's K6/7 Roadmap in www3.techstocks.com
The slotA 256 KB L2 K6 will be shipped in 2H98.

More importantly, other x86 cloners may legally clone the Slot1 by outsourcing their chips to SGS-Thompson, IBM, NSM who can legally clone Slot1. Please read: techweb.cmp.com
