Maverick,

I was not arguing about the viability of 300 Mhz K6 motherboards. However, what is the size of the 333+ K6 Socket 7 market? The K6-3D will be out in June at what speed? If the K6-3D+ comes out in December, we are talking about a six month lifespan for the K6-3D in Socket 7, because the K6-3D+ in Slot A and Mendecino in Slot 1 will pretty much kill off Socket 7.

If AMD wavers on its support for Slot A in favor of Slot 1, it will probably kill off the K6-3D+ motherboard support, so AMD is forced to keep any intentions secret. Hopefully, for AMD, they will have the critical mass by late 1998 to carry slot A by themselves.

Richard
