Gee, before I read his response to you I was going to say something
along the same lines. I've been developing applications for the
last 20+ years and have seen a lot of different languages and
environments from FORTRAN to lisp & smalltalk, and java is by
far the best one I've seen yet.

I've seen SEVERAL applications that have been re-written in Java
and the number of lines of code has been reduced to 25% of the
original. I've seen apps written that normaly would have taken
6-10 months done in 2-3. I've seen more "next-generation" concepts
that sound doable than any other system.

Not only is Java going to be good, it WILL revolutionize the
whole software industry (it already has in just the thinking
of most developers, at least those who can think out of the box).

It is obvious to me that you have spent < 1% of any normal
effort to understand Java and therefor I think Rod's comments
to you are right on the money.
