Unfortunately, I haven't heard any good news. I can't wait to see the sales revenues reported in the 10-K. The company filed a NT 10-K (a 15 day extension) on 3/31 (so did 2 of the other companies, LOCK and CHRB, featured in Marketing Direct Concepts' Stock Up Report). The local paper ran an article titled "SLI expects $7.7 million loss for 1997" about SLI's projected loss for 1997 (This link is only good until 4/9): binghamtonpress.com SLI's CFO declined to predict when SLI would turn a profit. On August 19, 1997, an article in the local paper stated that the CFO said SLI will be profitable in 1998, but this was before the company had decided on the October private placement. A 1996 Whale Securities Investment Research Report predicted the company would turn a profit in 1997, but this report did not account for some start up problems the company has acknowledged.
