BellSouth Corporation Chooses Open Text Livelink Intranet Suite for Web-Based Collaboration,
DOC. Management Needs

ATLANTA, GA. (Oct. 28) BUSINESS WIRE -Oct. 28, 1996--OPEN TEXT
CORPORATIO (NASDAQ:OTEXF) The following news release was previously
transmitted on October 24, 1996.

Open Text Corporation of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada today announced
that BellSouth.net Inc. has chosen Open Text's Livelink Intranet suite
for its internal support and collaboration needs. BellSouth.net develops
Internet and electronic commerce strategies and services, enabling
BellSouth and its affiliates to offer these services to residential and
business customers.

"To bring to the Internet and electronic commerce the same
reliability and high quality of service that customers have come to
expect from BellSouth's voice telephone service is no easy task," said
Bob Popp, Project Manager, BellSouth.net. "We needed a collaborative
computing solution that would help our employees work better as a
virtual team, and the integrated applications of Livelink Intranet met
our needs."

Initially, the suite will run on a single Sun/Solaris system, using
a Sybase database, that connects BellSouth.net staff. The firm plans on
having most users on the system by January, including engineers,
software developers, marketers and product developers.

"At first we were mainly concerned with obtaining a world-class
document repository system, which the Livelink Library for Document
Management module provides," said Popp. "But the web-interface and
other features such as its search, workflow status and collaboration
engines helped us see beyond our immediate needs to ways we could
further improve our internal communications and planning activities."

"The strengths of our product and our vision to put the web to work
for enterprises on intranets is being recognized, particularly by
communication firms like BellSouth and, in September, Bell Canada, where
customer service is crucial for success going into the 21st century,"
said Tom Jenkins, President and CEO, Open Text Corporation.

BellSouth is a $17.9 billion communications services company. It
provides telecommunications, wireless communications, directory
advertising and publishing, Internet and information services to more

telecommunications operations provide service over one of the most
advanced networks in the world for nearly 22 million access lines in its
nine-state region that includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky,
