<< Bill , stop taking the happy pills and come down to Earth. AOL still will not be able to compete with the local ISP's for one simple reason.

THE AOL INTERNET CONNECTION SUCKS BECUASE YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE LOUSY AOL FRONT END!!!!!! >>

Hey Mark,

What are you talking about?? I assume when you say "front end" you're referring to the AOL client software. As I pointed out in a previous post, you can download AOL's winsock and use AOL as an ISP, using it just to access the internet, so that you can run Netscape or whatever browser you wish. I assume that when you say "internet connection" you really mean the web (which is not, technically, the internet). I haven't benchmarked the speed, but I suspect this is just as fast or faster than any ISP. I believe AOL has T3 access to the net while most ISPs probably only have a T1 connection. (Just a guess.) I do agree with you that the current web browser integrated into the AOL client is slower than Netscape.

<< AOl is fine for AOL stuff but thats it. Forget about the browsing the Web its very lagged via AOL. I am not talking about the National ISP's I am talking about the established regional ISP' which provide quick , reliable uncensored access. A lot of people who have a local ISP get disk space for their web pages for no extra cost per month. AOL does not , and probably will not provide that service in the forseeable future, and if they did they would charge an arm and a leg for it. >>

Umm, you get 2Mb per screen name, so that's 2Mb x 5 = 10Mb. I'm surprized more people aren't aware of this. Check out the ftp area on AOL, if you want details. I doubt you've explored AOL much, though, from the misinformation I've seen in your previous posts. ;-)

<< AOL had creative accounting paper profits from a bullshit way of amortizing its marketing costs while showing revenues immedialty. Now that they are going to correctly match revenues and expenses, you
wont see mcuh profit , and you wont see all those buy rating's from the Analysts. I think its great that AOL is finally going to provide a fair priced hookup , but while thats great for subscribers it will not help the holders of AOL stock. >>

Ah, now *this* I agree with. I'm glad they've canned that practice. We'll have to wait a few quarters to see how the stock settles. With such a high P/E (around 93, I believe), they'll need substantial growth in the upcoming quarters. If you think they can achieve significant growth with the new pricing plan, then it's not overvalued. If you don't think so, don't buy any.
