Let's see under $1,000 PCs soon to be under $500 while at the same time server and enterprise market is expanding and we have all other price and performance points inbetween. Seems to me that the authors of the article need to make a better distinction between what constitutes an inflection point and what constitutes market segmentation/differentiation.

Just because Ford sells say an ESCORT for little or no profit doesn't mean it isn't making a lot on Explorers. Bottom line, INTEL's decision to focus on the microprocessor was an inflection point. INTEL's decision to make Celeron is just that a decision.
