OK, you've said to bring you stocks that present special situations, even if they're not a STOry. Could you please take a look at CBST? A pure, respected play in antibiotic-resistant bacteria, it's beaten down in the face of the expansion of a Merck agreement and other positive developments. Good microbiology, great chemistry, the company looks cheap, cheap, cheap. Back later with further discussion if there's demand.
Ray/Carol/NEPF... you've asked me for opinions of given companies. I haven't ignored the requests. I've just wanted to give you detailed opinions, on companies that I don't usually follow and often in areas that I don't know well. This has overwhelmed me given a recent work load, and I apologize. From now on, I'll give half-assed opinions, quickly. ;-)
Ray..... Biopool.... until I moved north a few months ago, they were very near to where I lived. Seemed to be a sincere effort to break into a variety of clinical lab reagents, characterized by aggressive management. The facilities, which I never checked out, were in a modern building in Ventura. I don't follow reagents for the clinical (hospital) lab, but I was impressed by the company when I briefly looked at them in (?) '96. If they ever hit it big time, they are located to conveniently pick off staff from Amgen. Seems like lots of the pieces were in place for success, but, again, I didn't take a close look.
