The word says that in order for a man to know God he must first believe that He exists. That is faith that is needed, a belief that God exists without any physical proof (if the universe is not proof enough). God has made it possible for men to have free will to know God or ignore God. If God had made His existence any more obvious than it is then men would be forced to serve God and maybe against their will out of fear. But God does not want that, he wants us to have choice and for those who want God they have to seek Him actively. He then reveals Himself to the seeker. Other wise He stays in the back ground out of sight because He does not want to coerce anyone to serve Him who does not want to. It's a gift of free will to decide our own destiny. But also God being infinitely more wise than us may recognize that we want God long before we know it and helps us along to the point where we realize that we want Him and that He does in fact exist. And not only that, but He created us and loves us and wants the best for us.

God is Spirit and we are made in the likeness of God meaning we are also spirit as well as physical. God became physical in the form of Jesus Christ and is still in that form now sitting in heaven at the right hand of the Father. He died on the cross to pay the price needed for our redemption and was raised again from death to life and now offers life freely to all men who will receive it. Jesus conquered the adversary of man (death) and because of that victory we can also live through Jesus. Confess Jesus as your Lord and as your Saviour and Believe that Jesus was raised from the dead and you shall be saved.
