Honestly, whether or not you notice the advertisements aren't really an issue. The fact that you're there that many times is what YHOO uses to sell to advertisers. Whether advertisers will continue to pay according to the number of hits is still an unknown in my book. After all it's overall effectiveness as you suggest -- I just think it's too early for advertisers to assess this and until they know they will want to have a presence online. What do others think?
