I have been lurking around this thread for the past few months and saw no postings. Can you imagine my glee to see that I am not the only one who still owns this stock.
Ask and you shall receive. I bought this stock due to the MoneyWorld Magazine article last year in July or August. I really can't remember. Anyway, I bought in at $3:30 and the stock went sliding down. I bought more and it kept sliding further. I got out slightly under $2. I have watched this stock down to the present levels. However, I haven't given up yet. So do I have any info? Well, troubled by the fact that the opening date of the humidor in the Riverfront Plaza in Las Olas, Florida was continually being changed until there was just plumb silence on it (the opening date was in November, then January, then February), I decided to visit Las Olas for myself (I went to a wedding so I was in the area). I went to the Riverwalk Plaza and couldn't find any construction. I asked questions, nothing! My friend drove me to other areas in Las Olas but I told her that it was where we first went, and I must have been had. I came back, called Steve and was ready to give him a piece of my mind until he asked me the exact location that I went to. I said Riverwalk Plaza and he said it was the Riverfront Plaza. Oops! To my chagrin, my friend had actually implied and pointed to the area where she thought the construction was, and I didn't listen. I now owe her big time. I may have to wait awhile before I visit Florida. Anyway, Steve said that the builder underestimated the timeframe to finish the mall (Riverfront Plaza). They (Havana Republic) supposedly have applied and will be a fully reporting company as soon as this humidor is open. I spoke to another friend in Las Olas recently and she went to the construction site. It is fenced off so you cannot enter but the opening date is slated for 4/20/98. Can they meet it? I don't know. She will check back for me in a week and let me know.
I own some shares at the current levels and plan on picking up some more. Will the stock take off after this humidor opens? I haven't got a clue. For all our sakes, I sure hope so. I hope this info. helps a little. You are not alone :)
