So much for my brilliant take on TA. I came within 1/16 of having to eat my words today. Glad we ended up but disappointed at the continued market distrust. I just hate looking at that PE of 17 or so when we're blowing away estimates by 85%. At this rate we'll end up like THDO was recently, being worth no more than the cash in our bank account!

I have another commentary, though, on playing TA with THQ. I have decided that the wisest THQ investors are those that trade around a core position. The reason is that I don't want to be caught share-less the day THQ gets bought out for $70 (whaddaya say, Sigmund? Buy your insurance now.). There are so many rumors and the company is so attractive that any investment strategy should include holding on to a core position.

Sometimes even a short position has looked attractive (and has generally been profitable). But it's just too risky. Short other stocks that don't have a buy-out buzz.

Next time THQ hits $32 or $35, I'm not making the same mistake. I'm selling some shares. But I'll never regret keeping a large position into another 40% drop because as long as I sell profitably here and there, I don't think I'm in danger of losing any money in this company. Especially if I'm smart enough to diversify a little with my profits.
